Nikhil Navaratna

I am a Research Manager at the National Center for Advanced Integrated Photonics (NCAIP), NTU Singapore, working on integrated photonic devices and high-speed electro-optic systems. My Ph.D. research at NTU focused on terahertz photonics for high-speed communication and sensing, alongside contributions to terahertz electronic circuit design. My broader interests lie in silicon photonics as well as computational methods for photonic device design.

Currently interested in developing broadband integrated modulators and terahertz sources.

What I bring

Simulation

Lumerical, COMSOL Multiphysics, CST Microwave Studio, Keysight ADS and Cadence Virtuoso for circuits.

Layout

KLayout (primary). Familiar with GDSFactory

Measurement

Vector network analysers, spectrum analysers and real-time oscilloscopes for high-frequency devices characterization and testing.

Programming

Python, MATLAB and C++ for modelling, simulation automation and data processing; LabVIEW for automating measurement setups and data acquisition.

Outside work: I read non-fiction and science fiction (technology, economics, the history and philosophy of science) and I’m training toward half marathons.
